  Name Old Golden Fleece (known as Middle 'oil) Address 37 Elland Road, Churwell, Leeds LS27 7TB Built 1934 Closed Yes Demolished Yes in 2010 Notes F: Baines 1822. There is a record of a property belonging to the order of the Knights of St John of Jerusalem which possessed special privileges on this site in the Bodleian library at Oxford compiled between the years 1450 to 1500. After the dissolution of the monasteries in 1539 the property became a tavern or inn with the emblem of the Golden Fleece. It is believed another ancient inn from which the Golden Fleece took its name stood on the other side of the green (R.Dennis). The 1930s building was demolished in 2010, the site is now occupied by a Tesco store. The sign of the Pub has been preserved outside of the new building.
